Coachability Quiz

Yesterday,I posted an article about how coachable do you think you really are. Today I found a Coachability Quiz that will let you know how coachable you really are.

I believe that most people are coachable but they're not always coachable at every point in time.
Sometimes people want change (or others around them want them to change), but they may not be currently open to changing their beliefs, behaviors and actions.
If that's the case, coaching won't work, and it's better to wait until you're more open to change to try coaching. Here's a quick quiz to find out if you're currently ready to benefit from coaching.

Select the number which comes closest to representing how true the statement is for you right now. Then, score yourself, using the key at the bottom of the page. Your coach needs for you to be at the place in life where you are coachable. This quiz helps the coach - and you - to discover how coachable you are, right now.

The scoring is the follwoing: 1 2 3 4 5, 1-2 Less True Statement and 3-5 More True Statement

I can be relied upon to be on time for all calls and appointments.

This is the right time for me to accept coaching.

I am fully willing to do the work and let the coach do the coaching.

I keep my word without struggling or sabotaging.

I'll give the coach the benefit of the doubt and "try on" new concepts or different ways of doing things.

I will speak straight (tell the truth) to the coach.

If I feel that I am not getting what I need or expect from the coach. I will share this as soon as I sense it and demand that I get what I want and need from the relationship.

I am willing to stop or change the self-defeating behaviors, which limit my success.

I am someone who can share the credit for my success with the coach.

I have adequate funds to pay for coaching and will not regret or suffer about the fee. I see coaching as a worthwhile investment for my life.

Total Scoring Key
10 - 20 Not coachable right now.
21 - 30 Coachable, but make sure ground rules are honored!
31 - 40 Coachable
41 - 50 Very Coachable; ask the coach to demand a lot from you!

Congratulations. By taking the time to conduct this brief self-test, you have just taken a small step towards exploring if having a coach in your corner is the next best step for you.

Are you Coachable?

Are you coachable? This is a great question! To be successful in any business, you have to be coachable. Let's face it when we start a business we do not know all of the answers and we need to look to our mentor or whoever for advice.

Let us look at he definition of coachable which is from the Webster Dictionary:
The state or condition of being coachable or coachable - Able to be coached effectively.

The following article is from Management Craft, which can help put you on the right track of being coachable.

Are you Being Coachable?

Want to have a breakthrough? Breakthroughs happen when we let them - which for most of us, rarely occurs. Our habits, hang-ups, assumptions, and lack of self-confidence get in the way. I call this collection of internal mental responses coachability.
Coachability is the extent that we hear and utilize outside input and influences. To produce breakthroughs, we need to be coachable.

Here's what it looks like when we are coachable:
We do not get defensive when people offer alternatives or disagree.
We invite and appreciate feedback.
We ask peers, team members, managers and others to offer coaching - yes, we think being coached is a GOOD thing!
We think about, process, consider, and occasionally use ideas we get from others.
We stay on a learning curve - keep challenging ourselves.
We know and can openly discuss our strengths and weaknesses.
We handle failures well (hostestly, constructively, quickly getting into action to solve).

And when we are being uncoachable:
We don't listen and an invisible barrier goes up when others offer ideas.
We get defensive - we need to be right!
We do all our own thinking - only the weak ask for input!
We are not interested in being coached.
We are neither aware of nor willing to talk about our weaknesses.
We intrpret suggestions as criticism - we take everything personally.
We dismiss the ideas and assistance of others.
We can improve our coachability by:
Adopting a belief that to achieve our goals, we need to be highly coachable. When we are coachable, success comes easily and quickly.
Change how we define “looking good” or “doing a good job.”
Reverse our belief that we need to be right to be a success. We will create more success if we focus on getting results and utilizing many ideas and perspectives.
Recognize that there are times when we are more coachable than others. For me, 3pm to 5pm is the time I find toughest to concentrate unless I consume vast quantities of chocolate. This would be a bad time to seek input or coaching (unless the aforementioned chocolate had hit my bloodstream, then it would be fine).
Ask for coaching. Ask for ideas. Ask for input. Get into dialogue about the things that matter to you.

A few things to consider about coachability:
We are all coachable some of the time and uncoachable some of the time.
Some of us are uncoachable most of the time - yikes! (and a joy to work with, I am sure).
You can go from being uncoachable to being coachable in an instant. Breakthroughs can occur in a moment.

How coachable are you - I mean right now? Be honest with yourself because if you want to succeed being coachable is very important.

To your success,

Laser Thinking, as presented by Hyrum Smith

Natural Laws are fundamental patterns of nature and life that human experience has shown to be valid.
Law #1: A successful business person is willing to do that which the unsuccessful business person is not willing to do.
Law #2: Wisdom is knowledge rightly applied.
Law #3: Time is the occurance of events in sequence one after the other.
Law #4: Management is the act of controlling.
Law #5: Time Management is the act of controlling events.

What do I control?
Law #6: The Effects of Conditioning:
1) There are events we can control, but we believe we can't.
2) There are events we cannot control, but we believe we can.
Law #7: Inner Peace is having serenity, balance and harmony in our lives achieved through the appropriate control of events.
Law #8: The objective of good time management is inner peace.
Law #9: The result of good time management is high self-esteem.
Law #10: A goal is a planned for event.
Law #11: When a goal is valued it become a priority.
Law #12: When goals are valued together, prioritizing is taking place.
Law #13: Prioritizing is the process of determining the precedence of events.
Ask yourself these questions:
1) What are the highest priorities in my life?
2) Of these priorities, which do I value the most?
Law #14: Planning is the process of determining future events.
QUESTION: Why don't people plan?
ANSWER: They don't have enough time...
This is not the actual truth. What they are really saying is that they value something else more.

Two Fallacies of Time
1) Somehow I'm going to get more of it.
2) Somehow I'm going to save it.

Commitment: I will spend 10-15 minutes every single day planning my day.

Three Steps to Effective Daily Planning
1) Identify all of the tasks I want to accomplish today.
2) Give a value to each task.
a) Vital - must be done.
b) Important - should be done.
c) Trivial - could be done.
3) Give a numerical value to each item on the list. (ex: a1,b2,c1)

REMEMBER: Vital does not equal Urgent

What is your timeline?

Six Steps
Step 1: Identify my governing values (my highest priorities)
Law #15: When my daily activities are in concert with my highest priorities, I have a claim to inner peace.

Step 2: Identify my Long Range Goals
Law #16: Governing values are a description of who I am.
Law #17: Goals are what I'm doing about who I am.

Step 3: Identify your Intermediate Goals
Step 4: Create your prioritized daily task list.
Step 5: Create a compelling score card.
Step 6: Hold yourself accountable.
Law #18: There is no chance, no destiny, no fate that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul.

These are all great laws to live by and they all make total sense. It can build your business just by following these laws. It will change your life to build a business that lasts a lifetime.

I hope this helps!

Posture – Do you feel capable of what you are doing? Quiet confidence!

The Internet Ceo Mom has weekly training calls with the entire team. These calls are amazing! This weeks call is all about having posture and two of our leaders gave us the following information.

You need every 10 ingredients for Posture! It will not work with leaving one of these ingredients out.

1. Why - Everyone needs a strong Why in this business. It will keep you on track. Where do you see yourself in a year? It is deeper than money. Pin it up in your computer so you see it day in and day out. Keep in mind that your why may change throughout your business and be open to it.
2. Trust – A person on whom or a thing in which one is able to rely. Rely on yourself. Your decision to build this business. It effects on how you build your business. Trust in the company and team.
3. Conviction – Is a strong belief in what you are doing and having a compass. It directs where you what to go in life.
4. Belief – They all reflect in believing in yourself, you have to be capable on making your dreams come true. It affects your momentum. You must believe in your mojo!
5. Confidence – Having confidence in yourself and your ability to succeed. Don’t say things to your self like I can’t, you should say How can I? Be confident in what you do know.
6. Certainty - You trust your decisions and you can figure out any obstacle. Have no doubts in what you are sharing with others and feel you are in the right place, at the right time and with the right team.
7. Passion – Wow! We can never get enough passion! You need to have it and have excitement and enthusiasm for what you are doing! Sound like you have passion and love what you are doing. You have to love what you are doing when you get up in the morning. There is nothing else you would rather be doing. If I am having success then everyone around me should have success. Make others happy and in return you will be happy. People join you, not Internet Ceo Moms! You should not have to work for passion, it comes out naturally. Gaining knowledge will give you passion.
8. Sincerity – Be Real! That is all you have to do! Be yourself with all of the above ingredients! Use your own tone of voice! Find your own words! Be professional and be genuine and have integrity. Do what you say you are going to do and be who you say you are.
9. Knowledge – You should know what you are doing and representing. Knowledge means getting a career/value pack, so you know the company you are representing. You need to be a product of the product. Learn about the other companies out there like, Mary Kay so you can talk about the differences intelligently. Knowledge gives you the best results. I would not spend all of your day trying to research other companies. Doing the activities you should be doing. It hurts your business if you do not get the value pack right away. It comes with a big old bag of belief.
10. Honesty - If you do not know the answer, find it out. Do not make something up. Being honest with you and complete training. What can I approve on? What do I need to do better today? Honest inventory you know where you need to go so what are you going to do? Go to your enroller to help keep you honest. Make sure you are being completely honest with you. The truth is good enough – Frank Vandersloot.

You need posture to have success in this business and you must have all of the ingredients. Figure out which ingredients you are missing and go get it! You need them all for success. What happens if you were a Senior Director today how would you talk to people? Have that mindset that you are a Senior Director. Think big even if only one person is listening.

This was an incredible training call! It is all true, you must have these attributes to be successful in any business.

I hope this information has helped you and it can be applied to any aspect of your life.

Influence – Excerpt from LIA Magazine

Influence is the “Holy Grail” of all Leadership. Everyone wants and needs it, but few understand it.

The one thing all of us want, and that all of us aspire to is the ability to influence. It is necessary in all walks of life, affects all ages and transcends gender and background.

Perhaps what we should do is narrow our focus. We don’t just want to have influence. We want to be an influence for good. We want to enhance lives. We want to help others. We want “influence” – the verb, not “influence” the noun.

When our words match our actions, that congruency brings enormous influence until people say of you what they said of Gandhi: What Gandhi thinks, Gandhi says. What Gandhi says, Gandhi does.” Gandhi brought the nation of England to its knees by the power of his own example.

Unless we are willing to build relationships, our influence will be limited. People simply “don’t care what you know until they know how much you care.” This is the principle behind all successful, influential leaders. Their weapon is not their knowledge, but their love, compassion, understanding and willingness to help.

I totally agree with this article, when we say we are going to do something, we should do it. What we ask of others, we should be doing ourselves. Very simple and very powerful at the same time. I find caring and helping others just comes naturally.

Have an inspiring day!

Would You Agree that Owning a Business is the Best Way to Get Ahead?

The truth is, most people that are in business for themselves are the people who have built the biggest fortunes and have created financial security for their families.

Sadly most don't have the means, entrepreneurial spirit or know-how to do it.
Think about it for a second. Suppose you wanted to start your own business, let's say a retail store. What do you need to have in place to do it?
• Huge Investment of Cash
• Money for building and/or rent.
• Money for inventory/product.
• Employees
• Payroll Staff
• Management Staff
• Ordering Staff
• Computers
• Racks etc. to hold products
• Cash Registers/Debit Machines
• Legal Department
• And the list goes on...
What if you could start your own successful business for $29 and everything was already in place for you.

What if:
• You had access to hundreds of consumable products backed by 25 years of research and patents that were better and less expensive than the competition?
• You had access to millions of square feet of manufacturing and distribution facilities?
• You had access to millions of dollars worth of computers to handle payroll, orders, taxes etc?
• You had access to a legal team ?
• You had access to hundreds of employees to take orders and service your customers?
• You had access to a research and development team and sales literature?
• Your customers purchased every month? They came back and shopped month after month after month?
• Everything was guaranteed?
• You could build your business to the size of thousands of dollars of residual income each month?
• You could see the average annual incomes of current business owners as well as the average time it takes business owners to achieve them?
• All you had to do to build your business was to promote the products/company and set up customer accounts?
• You had all of that, and your only investment was some of your time and $29 (that was guaranteed) ?
It amazes me why anyone that really wants to make some positive changes wouldn't jump in with both feet and create a great life! Or at the very least learn everything they could about to make an educated, informed decision.

Shhhhh...do you hear the door of opportunity opening?

Some Do, Some Don't.

Which one are you?

Our Quest for Happiness by Frank Vandersloot

I believe that a factor that is often overlooked in our search for happiness is the tremendous impact that our own moral compass has on our happiness. We all seem to have a moral compass--something inside of us that tells us what is morally "right" and what is morally "wrong". It's something that is inside each of us. When we live and act within the boundaries of our moral compass, we have peace of mind. When we find ourselves living or acting outside the boundaries of our moral compass, we don't like ourselves. And when we don't like ourselves we can never be happy. I suspect that this phenomenon has the greatest impact on our happiness. Liking who we are is, I believe, the most important aspect of finding happiness. I have often imagined a man standing in front of a mirror when he is 90 years old and saying to the person in the mirror, "I know you. I know everything about you. I know everything you've ever done. I know every thought you've ever had. I know every mistake you've ever made. And I know what you have done to try to correct those things. And therefore I like you. And I trust you!" I think that would be the ultimate test of our lives. If we can pass that test, we will have passed the test of life. We will like ourselves. And we will have lived a happy life.

I agree with Frank, it is so important to live by our values and morals. I am so thankful and blessed to find a company that has the same morals as I do, as well as having an ethical CEO like Frank Vandersloot.

The 'IT' Factor by Donna Stewart

I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "The 'IT' Factor" pertaining to successful people. They have " IT ".

The "It" factor is one of those undefined and subjective attributes that you either have or you don't. And for those who don't have "It," this undeniable "It" factor is more than just an attractive quality... it's also a hallmark of success. And 'It' falls into the category of you-know-it-when-you-see-it.

The plain truth is that those who have 'It' are just like you. The difference is that they are aware of and have practiced and mastered the fundamental skills of engagement to accomplish whatever it is they want to accomplish. In a nutshell, this is something you can learn. If you want to achieve something bad enough, you will find a way to do it.

With that being said, it's your reason or your "Why" that will keep you on task. But your reason MUST be strong enough.

Here are 5 "Must Do"s" to creating a strong "Why", to help you stay on task with and to accomplish your goals. MAKE SURE YOU WRITE YOUR ANSWERS OUT. IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

Ask yourself:

Why do you want to accomplish XYZ??

Next, expand on your why: When I accomplish this, it will mean this .....(fill in)............. to me.

3rd, expand further: When I accomplish this, it will mean this .....(fill in)............ to those I love.

4th, expand again:When I accomplish this I will feel ......(include at least 5 emotions)................ .

5th.....SHARE it in the written form with someone.

Are You Willing to Pay the Price? by Donna Stewart

To achieve great things, you must do great things.

One thing I realized as I began my journey of achieving my goals can be summed up in a wonderful quote; "You can play now and pay later, or you can pay now and play later. Either way you are going to pay."

When I heard that quote for the first time I decided that I wanted to be in control of my life. No one was going to give me a life on a silver platter. I had to create it myself. And so do you. What are you willing to give up to go up? Anyone who has accomplished great things made sacrifices in order to do so. A sacrifice is the simple act that you instigate by giving up one thing for the sake of accomplishing something else.

Also with paying the price there is a requirement of action. I've included a link to a short podcast titled "From Dream to Action", by Robin Sharma

Understanding "True" Residual Income by Donna Stewart

When it comes to choosing and having a home business, my advice would be to make sure that there is a "True" residual income.

What exactly is residual income anyway? Simply put, residual income can be defined as any payment system where you receive regular, ongoing payments as a result of a one time effort. Payments that are regular and ongoing with no further effort (except for a little maintenance) once the initial work has been done.

As you surf the net, you will come across a wide variety of business opportunities. Invariably, each one will claim to have the best compensation plan available and many will claim to offer "residual income". However, a quick examination of many of these pay plans will reveal that, although there may be an earning opportunity, it cannot truly be described as residual income.

For example: Let's say you are in a home business that promotes water softeners. Once a sale is made, that customer will no longer require any further water softeners. At least not for a while. It's a one time sale, not an ongoing income.

Now let's look at a cosmetic business or a jewelry business as another example. Although your customers may need cosmetics or jewelry on a regular basis, unless they are signed up as an ongoing member that commits to purchase a certain amount each month, you can only "hope" they come back to you to purchase their cosmetics or jewelry.

Picture this scene. You had several parties during a month where you made $2000 in sales of your cosmetics or jewelry (of which you receive a commission). No one signed up as a consistent monthly shopper, but rather simply made a one time purchase from you. What are the odds that those who shopped from you last month, will come back and shop for just as much or more this month or the next, or even the next? The chances are slim. What is required with this type of home business is a commitment to begin each month searching for new prospects to replace the ones from the month before.

With genuine residual income, the products should be needed and consumed on a monthly basis. With that type of reorder process your current customer base continues to shop every month. So when a new month starts, and you build your business, you are simply adding to your current customer bases, thereby continually growing your business with a true ongoing residual income.

What are you "Really" looking for?

What are you "Really" looking for?

I can appreciate trying to sift through all the garbage out there on the internet. Unfortunately, there IS a lot! However, I also realize that so many people are trying to find a "job" on the internet. If you are looking for a "job", you need to stop looking online.

You need to get out and pound the payment in your local area and find one. The people who get scammed the most are those who are desperate and come across these "get rich quick" deals, "stuffing envelope scams, get paid to read email schemes..etc.

Let me save you the heartache. If you are really looking for a job, you will NOT find an online job that is worth it.

Do NOT send money to anyone unless you have been given ALL of the information to make an educated decision.

Now, if what you are really looking for is a way to take control of your own finances through an honest home business, then continue your online search.

BUT...BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

Tips For Choosing A Home Business by Donna Stewart

If the company you are currently representing or the company you're considering meets all of these Success Factors, then you are probably on the right track.

1. Company Track Record - How long has the company you're considering representing been in business? What are the company's annual sales each year since in business? Does the company print average income statistics for business builders? It should and you should ask for them. Proof of long term sales, success and growth is critical with choosing any business.

2. Financially Sound - Does the company have outstanding debt? Joining a company that is debt free is something I highly recommend to lessen any risk to you.

3. Strong Management Team - What are the backgrounds and credentials of the management team? You want to join a company that is run with integrity and strong leadership.

4. Unique Consumable Products - Are the products of the company, ones that people actually need, use, run out of and repurchase month after month. Do they have any trademarks or patents allowing for exclusive rights meaning no other company can copy them. If the products are non- consumable, meaning they will only be purchased once, then that business will not be viable long term. If the products are consumable, however not necessarily a need, that will lesson your chance for long term success. Products needed, and consumed monthly makes for a solid business model.

5. Wide Market Appeal - Are the products usable by everyone? If they are specific to a gender, age group or body size for example, you lessen your market and therefore your potential.

6. Competitive Prices - Are the products comparable in price or less expensive than the competition? If they are too expensive this is not a business that will produce great results.

7. High Customer Reorder Rate - Does the company share it's reorder rate?
How many customers that purchased from the company last month, reorder again the following month? If the re-order rate is low, the business will not be viable as new customers simply replace your old customers producing no real growth or a secure, residual income.

8. Low Initial Investment - If the cost to join or start is too high it makes for more risk and difficulty in attracting customers and business partners.

9. Low Monthly Requirement - If there is a high monthly requirement, customers/business builders may end up with inventory or products they do not need. If there is a low monthly product requirement, then customers are getting what they need for personal use each month, and from a business standpoint you know customers are purchasing each month which creates the security and true residual income.

10. Rewards For Leadership Development - Does the company reward you for helping others in your business succeed? If there is any way the company could remove business builders from your business because of their success, be very careful about joining. There should never be potential for you to lose great partners.

11. Risk-Free - Is everything 100% guaranteed? If not, I would advise against joining.

12. Anyone Can Be Successful - Is the business plan set up for anyone to be successful at any time? If it's a company that says "Ground floor" opportunity, or "Get in Now", be very wary. If only the people who join at the beginning can be successful, then eventually people will get hurt.

Well, how does the company you are with or considering measure up?

Hope this was helpful..:)

A Motivational Poem By Author Unknown

My Comfort Zone

I used to have a comfort zone
where I knew I wouldn't fail.
The same four walls and busywork
were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like commission checks and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by just watching others win.
I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.

If you're in a comfort zone,
afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.
A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.

Reach for your future with a smile;
success is there for you!

The Power of a Day

How can you create a world-class career or a gorgeous life? The answer's a strikingly simple one: Live Great Days.

Your days are your life in miniature. Just focus on making the day ahead of you your best yet. Then get up and do the same thing tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that. These days will quickly become weeks. And the weeks will slip into months. Soon, you'll have just polished off your best year yet.

The question then becomes how do we install the habit of living great days - days where we work at congruence with our values and days where we are positive/excellent and passionate?

I've had tremendous success with a concept I call "30 Day Challenges". Say you want to grow the habits of daily exercise and high performance visualization in your life. Start by committing to these 2 new habits for the next 30 days, as it will take about 4 weeks before a new ritual becomes your New Normal. Then, start recording the fact that you followed through on these 2 daily commitments in your journal before you go to bed. After a few days, you will not want to break your track record. And seeing the victories of the past days fuels forward momentum. Giving yourself 30 Day Challenges to install new behaviors is such a powerful tactic for leadership and personal success.

Please remember, mastery and greatness doesn't come from one bold act that then defines your life. Instead, they come from those small, seemingly invisible daily wins that over time amount to a Best in World career and a World-Class Life. So start today!
